Nghi Son Refinery Plant Project – SMP8B/ETP

Background
Nghi Son Petrochemical Refinery Complex was built on an area of 400 hectares at Nghi Son Economic Zone, Thanh Hoa Province. The project is operated by Nghi Son Petrochemical Company (NSRP), Idemitsu Kosan (35.1%), Kuwait Petroleum International (35.1%), Vietnam Petrolimex (25.0%) and Mitsui Chemicals (4.8%). This joint venture was established in April 2008. The main construction items were started in July 2013. It is expected to put into operation in mid-2017. The project has a total investment of more than $9 billion, the total capacity when put into operation is estimated at 200,000 barrels/day, equivalent to about 10 million tons of crude oil/year. Diversified petrochemical products include LPG, unleaded gasoline RON 92, RON 95, diesel fuel, jet fuel, benzene, sulfur and many other products. In which the largest output belongs to high-class diesel fuel (2,204 thousand tons/year), ordinary diesel fuel (1,470 thousand tons / year), gasoline RON 92 and RON 95 (1,153 thousand tons/year).

Challenges
This is a national key project implemented with JGCS Consotium including JGC, GS, Chiyoda, SK & Technip.
The project has strict requirements for any qualified contractor, manpower and finance.
The project is a stepping stone for Hoa Hiep to reach a new height in the marketplace.
